I was born in New York on a Wednesday in February. It was reported to have been very cold. It was also reported to have been Valentine’s Day. I’m taking everyone’s word on this because I don’t think they have any reason to lie, and really, do I have any other choice?
Four years later, I moved to a small town in Central Florida where I began preparing for my life as a writer with the pre-requisite tortured childhood. (Okay, it wasn’t all that bad, but I did suffer from severe geek-itis)! I started to break out of my shell in the 9th grade, when I participated in several Chinese fire drills and an ill-received school bus “mooning” incident.
After I graduated from high school, I went on to a career as a professional, part-time college student and a full-time office worker. These were fun times. I was living a chick-lit life. (Except chick-lit hadn’t been invented yet. Neither had reality TV. But we did have Melrose Place).
Then, I got a major hair up my butt and moved to Philadelphia. Why Philadelphia? I don’t know why. I just knew. I got my heart broken. I started writing really bad poetry. Really, really bad.
A few years later, I married the man I never thought I would – my best friend. I had been so busy looking for love; it took me a while to realize love had already found me. I got my happily ever after. And I’ve been writing romance ever since.
